What is Special Recreation?
Special recreation at WDSRA brings you fun, exciting programs put together by expert staff dedicated to making sure every experience is a positive one. You get creative, innovative programming with opportunities to create social groups and make friends.
WDSRA has programs from as young as 3 years old to well into the senior years of life. There is something for every interest including: competitive and recreational athletics, Special Olympics, adaptive sports, music, dance, art, theater, social clubs, camps, trips, special events and more!

New to Special Recreation or to WDSRA?
We are here to help! Our Outreach Team can provide information about your options, explain the process and answer any questions along the way such as:
- Is special recreation right for my child/participant?
- Are there programs that fit the needs of my child/participant?
- Will there be peers similar to my child/participant in this program?
- How will this impact my family?
- And more!
WDSRA staff occasionally takes photographs or video of participants for promoting/advertising our programs, services, events, activities, and facilities in our brochures, website or agency social media, and other promotional avenues. By registering for, participating in or attending WDSRA programs, events, or other activities, the participant (or parent/guardian of a minor participant) irrevocably agrees to the use and distribution by WDSRA of his or her image (or of his minor child/ward) in photographs, video recordings, and any other electronic reproductions of such programs, events and activities for any purpose without inspection or approval and without compensation, rights to royalties or any other consideration now and in the future.
