Work areas could include:
WDSRA PROGRAMS
WDSRA Programs (Instead of recreation programs): Programs designed for groups of individuals who all have disabilities. Examples include: coaching a special Olympics sport for an hour and a half one evening per week, assisting with bowling, art, dance, etc for 1 hour per week (weekday evenings and weekends), taking a group to the zoo/sporting event/theater show/etc one time for 3-5 hours. Programs run for three 8-12 week seasons with approximately 8 weeks off in-between.
INCLUSION PROGRAMS
Staff work 1:1 with an individual with a disability in programs led and run by the park district. Hours and locations are based on park district schedules and are assigned on a seasonal basis. Examples include: a 30 minute swim lesson one time per week, a soccer program with a 1 hour practice on a weekday evening and a 1 hour game on a Saturday, a 3 hour preschool 2-3 mornings per week, early morning before care, and any park district program that requires additional support.
REC & ROLL ADULT DAY PROGRAM
Rec & Roll Adult Day Program: Meeting Monday-Friday 9am-2pm, our adult day program staff encourage independence and socialization through a variety of activities and outings. From fitness, dance, cooking and bowling to volunteering in the community, visiting other day programs and going on fieldtrips, our adult day program keeps our participants on the move and having fun—and our staff are part of the action every step of the way!
SYNERGY ADAPTIVE ATHLETICS
Programs for individuals with a primary diagnosis of a physical or visual impairment. We partner with Lincolnway Special Recreation Association (LWSRA) for Wheelchair Basketball, with practice on Thursday evenings and tournaments on weekends (some local, some require travel).
